James Howard Kunstler

JHK is the celebrated author of many non-fiction books and novels, host of the KunstlerCast podcast, and writer of the twice-a-week political blog Clusterfuck Nation

He has lectured at universities, conferences, and symposia all over the USA, Australia, Europe, and Africa and he is a Fellow of the Congress for the New Urbanism, in recognition of his books on architecture and town planning.

Mr. Kunstler was born in New York City in 1948. He worked as a reporter and feature writer for a number of newspapers, and finally as a staff writer for Rolling Stone Magazine. In 1975, he dropped out to write books on a full-time basis.

His 1993 non-fiction work, The Geography of Nowhere, is now a standard for the graduate schools of architecture. That book led him to explore the socioeconomic quandaries he called The Long Emergency, which have led to the breakdowns in daily life we now see all around us.
